Turning your photos into a painting has been something that everyone wants to try in Photoshop. There are many ways to achieve a painting effect, but using filters is probably your best bet!

In this video, I’m going to show you one way of turning your photos into a painting, but this certainly isn’t the only way. Like many effects in Photoshop, it’s always a good idea to experiment with the different filters that are available to you, to see which combination works best!

Filters used:

Cutout – This filter will ‘block’ out your model a touch, to move away from the ‘perfect’ edges.
Oil Paint – This new filter, available in Photoshop CS6, will add swirling brush strokes, to give the impression of an oil painting.
Angled Stokes – This filter will ‘rough’ out the previous Oil Paint filter a touch.
Texturize – Finally, the Texturize filter will add a ‘canvas’ feel to your final painting.
